Tutorial: Making female hair compatible with male avatars
Okay, I get asked about this ALOT, so thought I’d make a quick tutorial about making female hairs compatible with male avatars…
Well, first of all, I just wanted to note that my hair meshes were made using a female avatar as a reference, that’s why they are not meant to go with male avis and most probably will not look perfect on them. But if you still want to go for it, or get a request for one, then here’s how it’s done:
First, you open the previewer, derive from hair, change the textures, you know the usual stuff..
then go to ‘Special’ tab in the previewer
Where it says compatible body pattern id’s add ‘, 191′. the whole thing should say 80, 191
apply for changes. now the hair will be compatible for both males and females
next step is optional, but you can just check if it actually worked
go to scene manager, from the dropdown list choose ‘male avatar’. apply for changes, you should see a male avi in the previewer now.
save and submit the product to the catalog. when submitting, don’t forget to check ‘male’ next to compatibility.
